Our Core Belief

We believe people, nature, and climate thrive together. In many communities, livelihoods depend on the health of forests, farms, coastlines, and watersheds. When these systems decline, so do people’s opportunities.

We support solutions that restore nature, contribute to a stable climate, and strengthen livelihoods. This is where lasting change becomes possible.
What We Fund
We fund non-profit organizations working at the intersection of environmental sustainability and economic opportunity.

This includes, for example, agroforestry, smallholder farmer producer companies and enterprises, sustainable fisheries, renewable energy, waste management, nature-based tourism, and other approaches that improve livelihoods while benefiting climate, nature, and the environment.
Our current geographic focus is India. Organizations do not need FCRA registration to be eligible for funding from the Foundation.

We provide multi-year grants, typically over a minimum of three years, because building trust, local capacity, and viable economic systems takes time.

Our Committed Initiatives

SIRUMALAI INITIATIVE FOR TRIBAL HEALTH AND RURAL AFFAIRS
Palani hills, Tamil Nadu
SITHARA Trust works with the Paliyar and Puliyar tribal communities of the Lower Palani Hills, who have farmed and protected these forests for generations. Their coffee is grown without chemicals in the shade of native trees, yet most of it is sold unprocessed to middlemen for a fraction of its value. SITHARA helps these communities organize into producer groups, process their coffee and other forest produce to specialty standards, and sell directly to premium buyers.

We support SITHARA’s work across 10 tribal villages to build community-owned enterprises that raise household incomes, reduce reliance on middlemen, and keep 100+ acres of forest land pesticide-free and intact.
